The new era has changed tremendously over the years. Defense is becoming a thing of the past nowadays. There isn’t much post play in the NBA either. It is very rare that you see a big man posting up and demanding the rock down low on the block. If you do, it’s only a few in the NBA and the main player that comes to mind is a player that has dominated the Washington Wizards all season - Joel Embiid.

Outside of Embiid, you don’t see a lot of post play. With the guards, you see them scoring more. No one looks to set up their teammates very often. The best player to do that is Nikola Jokic and he isn’t even considered a guard despite what his numbers say. Gone are the days of Steve Nash and Jason Kidd where pure point guard play is played.

Wizards starting Point Guard Tyus Jones has a mix of the old school in him along with the new school. He has adjusted his game over the years and it is for the better I must say. The Wizards are certainly pleased with what he brings to the table as he didn’t get traded at the NBA Trade Deadline.

The Wizards are fond of him and they should be as he brings a lot to the table. He is considered a hybrid point guard because he looks to pass first however he can certainly shoot and score if needed. Last night, Tyus Jones dished out a career high 16 assist in a game that felt like the Wizards would win.

He also scored 14 points on close to 50% shooting from the field. Tyus Jones has been a very critical piece to the Wizards this season. When he plays well, the team typically plays well too. He has shown the trait of being a floor general throughout his NBA Career and will probably break this personal record and milestone of 16 assist in the near distant future.
