Veteran guard traded three times in 10 days

Patty Mills will be starting his 15th NBA season this fall.
This offseason has, perhaps, been the most eventful of his career.

It was reported at the beginning of July that the Australian was being acquired by the Houston Rockets in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

After spending the first two years of his career with the Portland Trail Blazers, Mills suited up for Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs from 2011-21, helping the team win a title in 2014. Mills played the last two seasons with the Nets, averaging career highs in points (9.7) and minutes per game (24.1) across his 121-game tenure, making 50 regular-season starts and posting a .409/.393/.820 shooting line.

Before he had time to settle into his new surroundings, the 34-year-old was shipped off to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of a five-team deal. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported over the weekend that Mills was leaving OKC for the Atlanta Hawks and it would be his third trade in a 10-day period.

Wojnarowski noted that Mills' summer travels may not be complete yet, as his $6.8 million expiring contract "will continue to have value in deals." The insider further reported that Atlanta is "still deciding whether he'll be a part of its preseason roster."

Fellow mid-30s veteran Rudy Gay has been traded multiple times this offseason as well.

The former UConn star was picked up by the Hawks in the John Collins deal in late June. Gay was then sent to the Thunder as part of the deal that saw Mills land in Atlanta.
