Warriors' Draymond Green fined $25K for flipping off fans during Game 2 vs. Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors dropped Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals series against the Memphis Grizzlies 106-101 on Tuesday, but it was Golden State forward Draymond Green who stole many of the headlines when he flashed a pair of middle fingers toward Memphis fans after he suffered an eye injury in the first quarter of that contest.

That salute will predictably cost Green some cash.

The NBA confirmed Thursday that Green was fined $25,000 "for directing an obscene gesture toward the spectator stands."

Things between the clubs have been quite chippy with the series tied at one game apiece. Warriors guard Gary Payton II is expected to miss multiple weeks due to the fractured elbow he suffered after he was fouled by Memphis' Dillon Brooks in the first quarter of Game 2, and Brooks received a one-game ban for that crime. Green, meanwhile, was ejected from Game 1 on Sunday after he was assessed a flagrant 2 foul.

"You gonna boo someone who was elbowed in the eye and face is running with blood, you should get flipped off," Green explained after Game 2, per Kendra Andrews of ESPN. "I'll take the fine. I'll do an appearance and make up the money. It felt really good to flip them off. ... If they are going to be that nasty, I will be nasty, too. I'm assuming the cheers were because they know I'll be fined. Great — I make $25 million a year. I should be just fine."

Game 3 is Saturday night at Golden State.
