Warriors optimistic Stephen Curry nearing return

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has been out of action since Feb. 4, when he collided with Dallas Mavericks point guard McKinley Wright IV and suffered a left leg injury.

Curry isn't back on the court yet, but ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Warriors believe he'll be able to return during the team's upcoming three-game road trip next week and that his rehab is "making good progress."

The Warriors will play the Los Angeles Lakers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies on a road trip that starts on Sunday, March 5, so Curry is hypothetically less than five days away from returning to action. At 32-30, it makes sense that Golden State would love to get the two-time MVP back into the fold. The Warriors are currently on a three-game winning streak, but they have two tough games coming up at home against the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Hornets. After the road stretch comes games against the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns.

The Warriors are third in the Pacific Division behind the Sacramento Kings and the Suns and currently hold the fifth seed in the NBA's loaded Western Conference, so every win or loss from here on out counts.

Curry had suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a lower left leg contusion, so it will be interesting to see how he performs when he makes it back on the court.
