Warriors' Stephen Curry earns first career NBA Finals MVP honors

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was named NBA Finals MVP for the first time in his career after a 103-90 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 secured the team another NBA title.

Curry, 34, is a two-time NBA MVP and has been a cornerstone of the Warriors dynasty which won its fourth title in eight years Thursday. However, it was Andre Iguodala who was the NBA Finals MVP after the Warriors won the first of those four titles in 2015, and Kevin Durant earned the honors in back-to-back seasons in 2017 and 2018.

In the 2022 NBA Finals, Curry averaged 31.3 points in the first three games before elevating his play even higher with 43 points and 10 rebounds in a crucial Game 4 victory

Curry had his worst performance in Game 5 when he missed all nine of his three-point attempts, snapping a record-breaking 233-game streak with at least one three pointer. He bounced back in Game 6 with a team-leading 34 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Over the six-game series, Curry averaged 31.2 points, 5.0 assists, and 6.0 rebounds.

In December 2021, Curry broke the record for career three-pointers, passing Ray Allen for the top spot on the NBA's all-time leaderboard.
