Denver Nuggets form

The Nuggets swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals. They were the top seed in the regular season, with an overall record of 53-29, so their presence in the NBA Finals is not a surprise. In the 2023 Playoffs, Denver only lost three games and they were never behind in any of the series they played.

Michael Malone’s men beat the Memphis Grizzlies (4-1), the Phoenix Suns (4-2), and the Lakers (4-0) to reach the Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Miami Heat form

Miami is only the second No. 8 seed to reach the NBA Finals, following the New York Knicks in 1999. Eric Spoelstra’s team is an exemplification of resilience. They advanced from the Play-In Tournament, where they defeated the Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls. In the playoffs, the Heat achieved a 4-1 series win against the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, overcame the New York Knicks (4-1), and emerged victorious in an exhilarating series against the No. 2 seed Boston Celtics that extended to a thrilling game 7 after Miami held a 3-0 lead.

The Heat will be competing in their sixth Finals. Their most recent was in 2020, resulting in a defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers. They have three titles to their name, with the most recent being ten years ago in 2013, led by LeBron James. In Denver, they will be vying for their fourth championship ring.

2023 Finals Key Players: Nikola Jokic vs Jimmy Butler

The 2023 NBA Finals are set to be a showdown between two of the top individual players in the playoffs. Nikola Jokic, a two-time regular season MVP, has led the Nuggets to their first-ever Finals. He has recorded eight triple-doubles in the last 15 games, averaging 29.9 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 10.1 assists. The versatile presence of the Serbian is vital for Denver and is evident on the court, where no one has been able to stop him so far.

On the other hand, Jimmy Butler has showcased his best form in the postseason. He is averaging 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in the playoffs, surpassing his regular season numbers of 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
