The month of February getting under way means the San Antonio Spurs have to pack their bags and prepare for their annual Rodeo Road Trip. The Frost Bank Center is set to be taken over by the San Antonio Rodeo on Thursday until the event ends on Sunday, Feb. 25.

With a seven-game homestand ending in Saturday's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Spurs will now begin their nine-game road trip on Wednesday against the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center. The team will get a mini break from the gauntlet during All-Star Weekend.

Spurs veteran Doug McDermott was asked Monday about how the team is preparing for the time away from home and said that a hard practice made all the difference.

"It was a good one,” McDermott said, per San Antonio Express-News' Tom Orsborn. “We needed it. We had (Sunday) off and we wanted to get things back on track for the rodeo road trip. It was a good hard day of practice, but I think we needed that."

After taking on the Heat, San Antonio will play three more Eastern Conference foes in the Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors before finishing up in the west with matchups against the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz.

This season, McDermott has appeared in 45 games and is averaging 15.3 minutes while posting 6.1 points and 1.3 assists per night.

The Spurs and Heat will tip-off tonight at 6:30 p.m. CT.
