2022 Chicago Bears win total: Leaders look to get franchise back on track

The Chicago Bears faced both Super Bowl participants in the first two weeks of last season. They lost to the Los Angeles Rams but beat the Cincinnati Bengals, a win that might have been the high point of the season.

At one point, the Bears were 3-2, portending a season that might be competitive as they worked out their quarterback of the future. Alas, there was not much to celebrate.

That quarterback was top pick Justin Fields. However, his rookie season was a struggle. The team around him was so limited that it was hard to get an accurate read as to just what the Bears have to offer. The changes off the field make it a complete reset. There is definitely hope that a regime change will help but new head coach Matt Eberflus is a defensive coach, so it will be interesting to see how that all works in Fields' development.

The Bears' defense kept the team in games last season because they were third at defending the pass. Robert Quinn was a terror last season (18.5 sacks), but with Kahlil Mack now with the Los Angeles Chargers, they are not as deep on the edge as they were a year ago. To have success this season, the Bears are going to have to be strong on defense again and that means keeping the pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

The line is saying they are unlikely to be an improved team this season. It is hard to disagree with that opinion.

Chicago Bears Win Total

Over 6.5 (+105)
Under 6.5 (-125)

Best Bet: Under 6.5

Unfortunately for Bears fans, I am with the consensus this season. It is hard to see how this team wins more games than they did a year ago, even though they get to face Detroit twice.

The simple fact is that the Lions are probably the better team right now, and the Bears are still significantly behind Green Bay and Minnesota in the NFC North.

Getting off to a good start is going to be a challenge for the Bears as they host San Francisco to start the season and then travel to Green Bay. We will know just how bad they are after the next two games when they host Houston and travel to New York.

Location will be a big factor for the Bears this season as a lot of their games against teams of their caliber are on the road. Not only do they travel to the Giants, but they have visits to the Jets and Atlanta in the second half of their season. Those teams are not going to be in the playoff hunt but might be finding their way at that point.

The final month of the season is tough, even though they have four home games. Chicago hosts Green Bay, Philadelphia,, Buffalo and Minnesota. Those are all teams most expect in the playoffs.

The under is the way to go throughout the season and the Bears are likely a fade candidate in each game unless the offense improves.
