The Philadelphia Eagles are undefeated going into this week’s battle against the Pittsburgh Steelers and while an undefeated season is someway off, the road to the playoffs just keeps getting easier.

The Eagles have been given the NFC East on a silver platter

We learned last week that the Washington Commanders would be sending Carson Wentz to IR for 4-6 weeks, meaning that the former Eagles quarterback won’t be able to play in Philadelphia against his old team and teammates, I’m sure he’s gutted.

Anyway, fast forward to Monday and it was announced that the Indianapolis Colts are pulling Matt Ryan from the starting role as he has a grade 2 shoulder separation. This can take between 2-4 weeks to heal and will, temporarily at least, give the starting duty to Sam Ehlinger.

For Eagle-eyed readers, this means that 2 of their next 4 opponents will now be starting backup quarterbacks against them.

The 4 opponents in question are the Steelers, Texans, Colts, and Commanders. Their combined record is 9-16-2.

The toughest challenge for Jalen Hurts and his soaring Eagles will be to keep their foot on the gas and ensure that they don’t play down to their opponents. But if they can continue to roll as they have been, then this could be the next chapter in what is shaping up to be a remarkable year of Philadelphia sports.

Go Birds.
