San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward recently revealed via Instagram that he underwent a successful surgery. Details regarding the nature of the surgery or whether Ward played through an injury towards the end of this past season remain undisclosed.

Ward's Instagram post simply stated, "Surgery was a breeze."

According to the photo, Ward underwent the procedure at the Vincera Institute, which is known for treating core injuries. It's the same facility that treated defensive end Nick Bosa for a lower abdominal injury in 2018.

Ward completed his second season with the 49ers since joining the team in 2022. He finished with 72 tackles, two tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, a career-high five interceptions, and a touchdown, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro selections.

According to Pro Football Focus, Ward concluded the 2023 season as the 49ers' highest-graded defensive back. His overall grade of 84.7 (including the playoffs) ranked fifth among all NFL cornerbacks, while his 86.5 coverage grade ranked third.
