The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly working out quarterback Ian Book on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Book, a former fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, spent one season with the team that drafted him before being waived, and spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles, although he never suited up.

A California native, Book played for Notre Dame throughout his collegiate career, where he passed for 8,948 yards, 72 touchdowns and 20 interceptions on a 63% completion rate.

The news of Book working out with the 49ers is an intriguing storyline, as the team has three quarterbacks on the roster in Brock Purdy, Sam Darnold, and Brandon Allen, who all are taking up 53-man roster spots.

Additionally, on Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the 49ers came out of the game injury-free, meaning they'll have all their personnel and likely don't have to make any significant roster changes.

Perhaps, the 49ers are looking to add to their practice squad, but nonetheless, Book is coming in for a workout on Tuesday for the team.
