Aaron Donald: Third DPOY award a 'blessing,' but Super Bowl win the 'ultimate goal'

Aaron Donald has won his third career Defensive Player of the Year award after once again proving he is in a class all his own when it comes to defensive players in the league. But despite the undeniable accolades, Donald remains focused on only one thing: winning a Super Bowl.

"It's a blessing," Donald said, via the Rams' official website. "I always say the same stuff, you know -- anytime you're rewarded for the body of work you put in and people notice that, you'll be happy about that. You're accomplishing great things building to a legacy, but never satisfied. I know I still got a lot of work to do, a lot of room for improvement. The ultimate goal is to be holding that trophy up. That's what we're chasing, that's what I'm chasing, that's what I want to accomplish. And I until I accomplish that, I ain't going to be satisfied."

Donald and the Rams have come close, including reaching the Super Bowl in the 2018-19 season, but so far they have fallen short. However, they may have their best opportunity to compete for a title next season with the addition of quarterback Matthew Stafford, who the Rams acquired from the Detroit Lions in exchange for Jared Goff and two first-round picks.

If the Rams do make the Super Bowl, it will likely be due to their elite defense led by Donald. Despite being a defensive tackle, Donald managed to get 13.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits last season.
