Aaron Rodgers: Packers 'found a way' to win without WR Davante Adams in the past

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Washington Football Team 24-10 on Sunday to improve to 6-1 on the season but have since encountered COVID-19 setbacks ahead of Thursday's matchup against the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals. Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry tested positive for the coronavirus, and star wide receiver Davante Adams has landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Adams is unquestionably the favorite target of quarterback and reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers, but Matt Schneidman of The Athletic pointed out the Packers have gone 6-0 and averaged 32.8 points per game in contests without Adams over the last three seasons. As Josh Alper noted for Pro Football Talk, Rodgers had no real reason to explain the club's performances in those games.

"I don’t know," Rodgers said about winning without Adams on Tuesday. "We’re not a better team without him, that’s for sure. Look at each of those games, we just found a way."

Following Week 7 of the campaign, Adams is tied for second in the NFL with 52 receptions, third with 744 receiving yards, and he also has three touchdown catches. Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, it's believed Adams is vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning the All-Pro could return to team activities if he produces two negative virus tests 24 hours apart and stays asymptomatic. Green Bay has to travel to Arizona for Thursday's game, however, so Adams is quickly running out of time to meet those requirements.
