The Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears Sunday in a battle of underperforming teams. Four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers will play despite rib and thumb injuries.

However, at 4-8, the Packers have a very slim chance of making the playoffs. There are those that wonder if Jordan Love should see some game action should the Packers get mathematically eliminated. It is a situation that Rodgers himself addressed, saying that he would approach any conversation “without any bitterness or resentment.” Of course he won’t, because according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Rodgers himself will have a “big voice” in that decision.

According to Pelissero, “Rodgers, who has praised the improved communication with team brass since the drama of the 2021 offseason, would have a big voice in that decision. If Rodgers wants to play and feels physically able, it’s a good bet he’ll continue to play.”

Rodgers also maintained that his goal is to win out and remain in playoff contention.

The Packers organization attempted to put itself in a position of leverage with Rodgers when they drafted Jordan Love in 2020. Since that pick, though, Rodgers has won two MVP awards and signed a salary-cap killing contract. He has also gotten into a standoff with the front office, which he won. Now, the Packers seem to be bent to the will of Rodgers. If he wants to play, he is going to play.

There is not a coach or front office staffer who will stop him.
