The New York Jets knew what they were getting when they signed Aaron Rodgers to a two-year deal.

Rodgers isn't everyone's cup of tea, which is fine, and the quarterback hasn't been his usual MVP-level self for years, as his production has been declining, while his off-field life has seemingly taken over.

With new head coach Aaron Glenn coming in to clean up the mess, Rodgers was informed the franchise was heading in another direction, and Aaron laid it all out in the public space on the Pat McAfee Show regarding how the meeting went.

It was a 15-minute meeting in which the Jets informed Rodgers they were going in a new direction, one that Rodgers flew across the country for, and he stated it could have been a phone call.

It was just all messy, and now The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt has given his take on Rodgers' time in New York.

"For two seasons, Rodgers was a walking distraction," Rosenblatt wrote. "The Jets never deterred him from making appearances on McAfee’s show, even as he used that platform to call out teammates, spew conspiracy theories and just generally cause a stir … only for Rodgers to later decry the Jets organization for having so many non-football distractions."

When thinking of Rodgers' time in New York, the phrase "it's always something" pops up.

Whether that was his trip to Egypt, or his want to limit distractions, despite being one himself, it just wasn't the best of times for the franchise, and the lack of improvement with Rodgers in the team was worrisome.

Now turning over a new leaf, the Jets are looking to put the two years with Rodgers behind them, and it is clear the quarterback didn't appreciate the type of meeting he had with Glenn and Darren Mougey about his exit.

Maybe now, after Rodgers' outburst, the non-football distractions will be a thing of the past for New York.
