Aaron Rodgers had a very notable comment during his MVP acceptance speech on Thursday night.

On Thursday, Rodgers was named NFL MVP for the fourth time in his career. The Green Bay Packers quarterback came to the stage to accept his award from Peyton Manning. Rodgers gave a thoughtful speech during which he thanked many people.

What was extremely notable was whom he thanked first.

“I’d like to thank the Green Bay Packers. Mark (Murphy), Brian (Gutekunst), Russ (Ball), our incredible fan base. It’s been an amazing 17 years,” Rodgers began his speech.

What’s so notable about that?

Rodgers spent all offseason last year upset with the Packers. He reportedly was particularly unhappy with GM Brian Gutekunst. For Rodgers to mention the three front-office leaders of the Packers first, that shows how far he has come. He seems to be on a much better basis with the team, which could factor heavily in his future.

Although the Packers are in a bad spot with regard to the salary cap, they may be in a better place to possibly keep Rodgers.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen signals that Rodgers might be willing to remain with the team.
