Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Jonah Williams (92) attempts to hold back defensive tackle Aaron Donald (99) as a third scuffle escalates into a brawl during a joint preseason camp practice between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022.] Sam Greene/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK

Adam Schefter has just one word to describe Aaron Donald's swinging double-helmets: 'Assault'

Aaron Donald did his best Darth Maul impression at a joint practice between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals, but that's where the joke begins and ends.

Seriously, in a skirmish between the two teams, Donald grabbed two Cincinnati helmets and wielded them like weapons. He swung them both at the Bengals players around him like he was swinging a jackhammer. In fact, in the video of the incident you can clearly hear the swings making contact:

That was a violent scene and even the fact that helmets were involved doesn't take anything away from that fact. Donald's actions were so bad that even Adam Schefter -- who normally has no problem carrying water for the NFL or any of its star players -- called the eight-time Pro Bowler out.

It will be interesting to see if the NFL responds to this practice incident with any discipline but it's a safe bet to assume that the league won't and say that since it happened during practice it was no big deal.

Remember, Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns was suspended for a nasty helmet swing in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Garrett was suspended indefinitely by the NFL for the incident and ultimately missed the rest of his season (six games) before being reinstated the next season.
