After going viral, Tommy DeVito's agent advocates for him to be Giants QB1

Less than 24 hours after his client led the Giants to their third straight win and brought them to within one game of the NFC playoff race, Stellato was making the rounds and doing several interviews in which he lobbied for DeVito to be New York’s starting QB permanently.

“My dream is for him to be the starting quarterback and get a long-term deal with the New York Giants,” Stellato said during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams.” “I know he can win this job. He’s won the locker room, the coaches believe and have faith in him. … Just in terms of that aura, that passion, that blue-collar, underdog approach, he relates to that fan base. I think he can win that job, I have no doubt about it.”

Because of DeVito’s out-of-nowhere success, the Giants have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Despite signing Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract this offseason, the 26-year-old former first-round pick has been outplayed by DeVito this season.

Head-to-head, DeVito has more touchdowns (eight to three) and fewer interceptions (three to six), more yards per start (170.3 to 151.5) and yards per completion (6.8 to 5.7) with a higher passer rating (95.6 to 70.5) and a better win-loss record (3-1 to 1-5).

DeVito, a 25-year-old New Jersey native who took less money as an undrafted free agent to play for his hometown team, has led the Giants to three straight wins over the Commanders, Patriots and Packers.

He’s the first undrafted rookie QB in NFL history to win three consecutive starts without throwing an interception and to record a passer rating of 100 or better in three straight starts. In fact, he has the second-highest passer rating of any QB over the last four weeks (119.8), behind only San Francisco’s Brock Purdy.
