A.J. Brown has message for Eagles GM on Jalen Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown pledged his allegiance to quarterback Jalen Hurts this week, calling for general manager Howie Roseman to get a new contract done for the MVP runner-up in the near future.

Brown appeared on the "Raw Room" podcast to discuss a host of NFL topics and at one point said, "If you do not pay this man [Hurts], just ship me off wherever he finna go. ... Howie get it done."

In the days leading up to Philadelphia's Super Bowl LVII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said that Hurts didn't have "anything to prove" when it came to a contract extension and the former second-round draft pick was "just what they're looking for" in a franchise signal-caller. The 24-year-old is slated to make a $4.2 million base salary next season.

In their first season together, both Brown and Hurts had career years.

The former Tennessee Titans wideout set career highs in targets (145), receptions (88) and receiving yards (1,496), while matching his career high in receiving touchdowns with 11. Brown made Second-Team All-Pro for the first time in his four seasons and made his second Pro Bowl.

Despite missing two regular-season games, Hurts posted career-best numbers across the board in completion percentage (66.5%), passing yards (3,701), passing touchdowns (22), quarterback rating (101.5) and rushing touchdowns (13), while tossing just six interceptions and earning Pro Bowl honors for the first time. Although the Eagles lost in the Super Bowl, Hurts had a historically great contest and likely would've been named the game's MVP if Philadelphia had won.

On the world's biggest stage, he went 27-for-38 for 304 passing yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a 103.4 quarterback rating, adding a quarterback-record 70 rushing yards on 15 attempts and matching Terrell Davis' Super Bowl record of three rushing scores.
