Alabama defensive back Jaylen Key was selected with the final pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, making him this year’s Mr. Irrelevant.

After spending his first four seasons at UAB, Key transferred to the Crimson Tide in 2023 in order to better prepare himself for a career at the next level.

“For me it was just about preparing for the next level,” Key said to the media back in October. “And finding the best place for me to do that as far as coming somewhere where the staff, the whole building just really accepts you. Really helps you come in and make it as comfortable as possible… The people here are next to none.”

Key started 12 of the 14 games last season, missing two to injury, but proved to be a very productive player when on the field as he totaled 60 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and one pass breakup.
