All-Pro RB Josh Jacobs has telling quote regarding Raiders future
Josh Jacobs said Thursday morning that he has the Las Vegas Raiders "seal tatted on" and expressed his strong desire to stay with the organization.
That Jacobs apparently "just bought a house" in Sin City doesn't necessarily mean he'll be back with the Raiders for the 2023 campaign. It would do both sides wonders if they could work out an extension, however.
The 24-year-old is coming off of by far the best season of his four-year career, setting career highs in rushing attempts (340), rushing yards (league-best 1,653), receiving yards (400), touches (league-high 393) and yards from scrimmage (league-high 2,053), while matching his high mark in rushing touchdowns (12) and targets (64) as well. Jacobs earned his second Pro Bowl honor and was named First Team All-Pro for the first time since he entered the NFL.
The 2019 first-round pick carried the Las Vegas offense all season long (along with wide receiver Davante Adams), collecting over 100 rushing yards in a single game six times and recording multiple touchdowns on three occasions. Jacobs put up the monster numbers at a critical time in his NFL journey too, as the Raiders declined his fifth-year option last offseason.
With quarterback Derek Carr all but gone, Jacobs will likely see a new man starting under center this fall if he stays. While the Alabama product's words on Thursday show he clearly wants to stay, he said last weekend that he hadn't yet heard from the team regarding a new contract.
