All-Pro WR Davante Adams won't give Packers a discount to keep Aaron Rodgers
Football fans have probably noticed the Green Bay Packers are going through some things this summer.
On the same afternoon that disgruntled quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers teed off on the organization and spoke candidly about returning for at least the 2021 season, four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams discussed entering the final months of his current contract.
Understandably, one reporter asked if Adams would be willing to offer the Packers any type of discount if doing so meant staying with Rodgers in Green Bay. The 28-year-old left little to the imagination with his answer:
Adams admitted last month that he wouldn't skip training camp despite the lack of a contract extension because he was "not forfeiting any of my money that I've earned," cash that he would've lost via fines had he not reported.
ESPN's Adam Schefter suggested Monday that Rodgers showing up to work could help the Packers keep Adams past the 2021 season, but it appears that's only happening if the team makes Adams the league's highest-paid receiver.
