Amon-Ra St. Brown closing in on Lions record after latest performance
Although in defeat, Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown positioned himself to rewrite the team’s record books following Thursday’s 28-25 Thanksgiving day loss to the Buffalo Bills.
St. Brown recorded nine receptions for 122 yards, moving him past Gail Cogdill (1,598) for the third-most receiving yards of any Lions receiver through his first two NFL seasons.
The USC alum needs just 174 more yards to pass Germane Crowell for second place (1,802 yards) and 459 more yards to pass Calvin Johnson’s franchise record of 2,087 yards.
"He's one of the top guys in the league at this point, and certainly, as good as anybody in the slot right now," Lions quarterback Jared Goff recently said of St. Brown. "He helps us a lot when he's up and rolling and healthy. …Just getting guys that can stretch the field, and other targets that are potent in their own right (is big too).”
Thursday’s game also marked the third time this season St. Brown had 100 or more yards. He needs just one more 100-yard game to tie Johnson and Crowell, who each had six, for the most such games through their first two seasons.
