Andy Reid: 'My prayers and thoughts go out to everybody involved' in Britt Reid crash

Last week, former Kansas City Chiefs outside linebackers coach and assistant Britt Reid, the son of head coach Andy Reid, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following the infamous car accident several days before Super Bowl LV that left a five-year-old girl critically injured and suffering from what is likely permanent brain damage. 

Per KMBC News, Andy Reid spoke with reporters on Monday for the first time since Britt was charged. 

"My prayers and thoughts go out to everybody involved," Reid said. "Because of the legal situation, I can't talk about it now, but just from a humane standpoint, my heart goes out to those that are involved with it." 

Britt Reid previously told police that "he had two to three drinks and that he also took prescription Adderall" before the crash. Andy Reid did not elaborate if his son consumed alcohol at the practice facility that fateful evening. 

"There is a policy and there is a league policy," Reid said of alcohol being at the facility. "I can’t go into all of that. But there is obviously a policy." 

KMBC added that Reid’s blood alcohol content was measured at .113. 

The Chiefs first placed Britt Reid on administrative leave, and he did not attend the Super Bowl. He's no longer employed by the organization. 

The NFL is looking into the matter and could punish the Chiefs through the league's personal conduct policy. Britt Reid, meanwhile, could face up to seven years in prison under the charges.
