Are the Cowboys interested in signing Odell Beckham Jr.?
In some ways, Odell Beckham Jr. is a perfect Dallas Cowboy.
He's flashy, bold, and loves the spotlight. Also, he's a phenomenal talent. He's made three Pro Bowls and won the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of The Year.
However, are the Cowboys seriously considering pursuing Beckham? Comments from Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones, son of owner Jerry Jones, hinted they do have an interest.
"They're a lot of guys that don't belong to anybody out there," said Jones while addressing questions about trading for a wideout after a 49-29 victory over the Bears.
Signing Beckham, who's a free agent, is a gamble. He won't be ready until Week 12 since he's recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in Super Bowl LVI, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Beckham is good, but he's declined over the past three seasons. He hasn't recorded 1,000 receiving yards since 2019.
Nonetheless, he was a key piece in the Rams' championship run. He was second on the team in receptions and receiving yards during the 2021 postseason.
Dallas' passing game prevents it from vaulting to the top of the NFC. Even though Dak Prescott has returned, it still ranks 27th in the league.
If the 5-2 Cowboys upgrade their passing game, they could become a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Perhaps they will roll the dice on Beckham instead of trading for an unproven wideout before the trade deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST.
