Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: Odell Beckham Jr. 'a player that I admire a lot'

Add the Dallas Cowboys to the growing list of teams linked with free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. this fall.

Per Ryan Morik of Fox News, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones spoke highly of Beckham during a Friday appearance on Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan.

"He made the greatest catch I've seen, other than the one Dez [Bryant] made for the touchdown against Green Bay," Jones said during the segment. "Bottom line is Odell is a player that I admire a lot."

According to Josh Clark, Jones' comments followed Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin telling 105.3 The Fan that Beckham is keen on joining "America's Team" at some point before the 2022 NFL season ends.

"I really believe you can have Odell Beckham because I have personal knowledge of knowing how much Odell Beckham would love to play for the Dallas Cowboys," Irvin explained on Thursday. "I ain't talking about something somebody told me one time, or something I heard on the line, I'm talking about I got personal knowledge [that he wants to play for the Cowboys]."

Beckham is still recovering from the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee he suffered in Super Bowl LVI this past February and may not be ready to play against live defenses before mid-December at the earliest. It's been rumored that OBJ could embrace returns to former clubs the Los Angeles Rams and New York Giants or sign with the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, or, now, the Cowboys.

Dallas is 5-2 heading into Sunday's home game against the 3-4 Chicago Bears.

Beckham originally joined the Rams last November and recorded 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns over eight regular-season games before he tallied 21 catches for 288 yards and two scores during the playoffs.
