Bears QB Andy Dalton eager to move on after Week 1 performance, loss

Multiple things didn't go right for the Chicago Bears on Sunday as they fell 34-14 to Matthew Stafford and the L.A. Rams. One of the most glaring issues was Andy Dalton's tepid performance.

The 33-year-old quarterback ended the day completing 27-of-38 attempts for 206 yards while adding an interception and a fumble to the stats sheet.

Like any quarterback after a disappointing game, Dalton is eager to put Week 1 in the review mirror.

"It's a long season," Dalton said postgame, via Bear Digest on the Sports Illustrated network. "I think everybody understands that. And I think if you look at the way the division shook out today we're still in the same position."

Dalton does have a point, to an extent. Every team in the NFC North lost in Week 1, so Sunday's loss to the Rams didn't hurt the Bears in terms of the standings -- even with the ease L.A. showed in thwarting Chicago's offense.

"I think just the kind of way (the Rams) defense plays, they limit the big play and they make you just kind of move the ball down the field," Dalton explained. "You're not going to get very many explosives against this team."

Still, Sunday's performance wasn't a glowing endorsement for Dalton, who got the starting job over rookie Justin Fields amid some very active preseason QB controversy.

Fields, for the record, saw some playtime on Sunday and recorded the Bears' only QB touchdown.

The Bears now look to their Week 2 matchup against the Bengals, who are coming off of a 27-24 overtime win over the Vikings.
