Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trenton Irwin further proved his value on the field last week with a career day. He also showed why he's an even greater person when no one was watching.
Earlier this year, Irwin helped Northern Kentucky University student Bry Hall pass her driving test. Per WLWT's Charlie Clifford, Irwin lended both his car and time to Hall on a once-a-week basis.
Irwin and Hall met each other a few years back in a youth outreach program in the city. He's since kept up with the now sophomore at NKU, and spared no effort into helping her accomplish a big step in her life.
"She didn't have a vehicle," Irwin told Clifford. "And didn't have an outlet to go get some hours in. And she wanted to take her driving test because she wanted to go work.
"I got my little Toyota Camry out here I was like 'You know we get a couple scratches on that puppy, we'll be fine.'"
Hall indeed ended up fine. She passed her test and saved enough money to buy her own car. All because Irwin reached out and did what Hall could not have expected.
"He said 'How would you feel if I helped you with driving?' I was like 'Are you serious?' Because people don't normally do that," Hall said.
Most people don't. Irwin is not most people. The fourth-year receiver is coming off one of the best games of his career after securing career-highs in receptions (eight) and yards (60) against the Arizona Cardinals.
He's assisted the Bengals' passing game quite often over the past two years, and his assist to Hall tops all of his moments in stripes.
