Bengals sign Super Bowl champion CB

The Bengals added another piece to their secondary who is a Super Bowl-winning cornerback.

Cincinnati announced it signed CB Sidney Jones IV to a one-year deal on Monday.

Jones IV is entering his seventh season in the league with his fifth different team. He was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Eagles, whom he helped win Super Bowl LII.

It is still unknown whether the move closes the door on a potential return of CB Eli Apple, who ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 66 remaining free agent. However, Jones IV, who is still only 26, brings both youth and experience to the Bengals, who are already Super Bowl contenders.

Jones IV has 154 tackles, one forced fumble, four interceptions and 30 passes defensed in his career. He has primarily played as an outside cornerback throughout his career but could be moved around standing at 6-foot, 181 pounds.

Either way, Jones IV is a great addition to Cincinnati's secondary for a cheap price and will be at worst a depth piece with a ton of experience.

The Bengals have made several smart signings as they prepare to pay QB Joe Burrow, and Jones IV becomes the latest example.
