Bengals WR Tee Higgins changes jersey number

A day after the NFL announced that players are now allowed to wear the number zero , Bengals WR Tee Higgins revealed he is switching numbers. However, he won't be joining Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley to rock the new number.

Higgins announced that he will now be wearing No. 5. It's a number he's quite familiar with as he wore it during his collegiate days at Clemson.

There's the saying, "Look good, feel good. Feel good, play good," and Higgins is likely feeling that way now that he gets to sport his old number once again.

Not that the 24-year-old needs to play much better after posting back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons. But if he feels it will help take his game to another level, why not?

Higgins did have 1,167 yards and 13 touchdowns in his final season at Clemson while wearing No. 5, which would be a career-best in each category since his time began in the NFL.

Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, Higgins is surely hoping to have his best season yet while wearing the No. 5. Maybe the change will be enough for him to cash in big next offseason after helping to deliver the franchise's first Super Bowl win in 2023.
