The Washington Commanders certainly have a big three in the wide receiver room, but ESPN's Dan Graziano thinks there's a fourth that won't be in their shadows.

Graziano's "surprise" is that wide receiver Dyami Brown will have a "real role" in Washington's offense, which doesn't feel like much of a shock. Brown has shown the necessary flashes throughout the preseason that suggest he'll make the next step when linking back up with two-year college teammate and Commanders starting quarterback Sam Howell.

"(Terry) McLaurin suffered a toe injury in the final preseason game that could linger into the season, opening up opportunities for others further down the Washington depth chart," Graziano wrote. "The Commanders have been impressed with the improvements Brown has show in this offseason, and they like his ability to make contested catches and win in crowded parts of the field."

Brown has had some electric deep-threat abilities in his two seasons in Washington, averaging 18.1 yards per reception in his career. In 2022, Brown racked up 28.6 yards on average on five catches — two of which went for touchdowns.

However, he has not been a consistent outlet for quarterbacks to throw to. He's only garnered 39 targets in 30 career games, pulling in 17 receptions.

In the preseason, though, Brown had four catches — one shy of his 2022 total — for 48 yards and a touchdown, capping off a 10-play, 79-yard drive during Washington's 24-game-win-streak-snapping victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel will likely garner the majority of receptions in 2023, but Brown's showing continued development on his way to becoming an every-down NFL receiver.
