Bill Belichick realizing his time with Patriots may be coming to an end?

Head coach Bill Belichick may finally be sensing that his time with the New England Patriots is coming to an end, per Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal.

It's been an unprecedently rough 2023 season for Belichick, as, despite winning two of their last three games, the Patriots remain in last place in the AFC East at 4-11 and will miss the playoffs for the second straight year. This has been New England's worst season since 2000, when it finished 5-11. Belichick was in his first year at the helm and Tom Brady was a rookie, still one season away from taking over as the starting quarterback.

Barring an upset road win against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17, the Pats will also clinch last place in the division for the first time since the 2000 campaign.

Though the 71-year-old is widely regarded as one of, if not the greatest head coach in NFL history, there has been some criticism of him in recent years, particularly after Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 season.

Belichick has posted a record of 333-176 (second-most wins) over his 29 seasons as a head coach, including a 31-13 mark in 44 playoff contests. The difference in wins and losses with and without Brady is drastic, however.

He now has an 84-101 overall record without the three-time MVP and a 29-36 mark since Brady left New England. Belichick went 219-64 in the 20 seasons with Brady as his quarterback and all six of his Super Bowl titles and all three of his AP Coach of the Year awards came with TB12 as his team's signal-caller.
