Bills HC Sean McDermott on Jake Fromm: 'He doesn't seem to be fazed'

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott was happy with what he saw from Jake Fromm in his team's preseason win over the Detroit Lions on Friday.

Fromm, essentially still considered a rookie after quarantining during the 2020 season, connected on a 40-yard pass to Marquez Stevenson on the final drive of the game for the Bills. Tyler Bass finished it off with a field goal, lifting Buffalo to a 16-15 win.

Talking about Fromm after the game, McDermott said the former Georgia quarterback's past shined for the Bills.

"The thing with Jake is, he's been there before. Go back to when Brandon (Beane) scouted him," McDermott said via press conference. "He's been in big games before, in those moments. He just doesn't seem to be fazed by those moments."

Fromm played in the college football national championship game as a freshman in 2018, so an NFL preseason game surely wasn't enough to fluster him. Although the Bulldogs lost the national championship to Alabama, Fromm threw for 232 yards and a touchdown in that game.

On Friday, the 23-year-old was 8-of-13 passing against the Lions for 65 yards. He'll likely see more playing time in Buffalo's second preseason game against the Chicago Bears next weekend.
