Bills' Josh Allen confirms follow-up chat with Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen confirmed Wednesday that Patrick Mahomes contacted him after the Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller's profane midfield words following the teams' Week 14 contest.

The viral moment came after the Bills defeated the Chiefs, 20-17, thanks largely to Kansas City wideout Kadarius Toney lining up offsides prior to the team's would-be go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. While meeting with Allen, Mahomes called the penalty "f---ing terrible" and the "f---ing worst call (he'd) ever f---ing seen."

The vitriol was clearly not directed at Buffalo's Pro Bowler, but the reigning MVP has still faced heavy criticism this week for his perceived poor sportsmanship.

Mahomes also discussed the topic Wednesday and expressed his regret for the incident.

The Texas Tech product's words come one day after he talked about his remorse during an appearance on Kansas City's 610 Sports Radio's "The Drive."

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was also livid following Sunday's loss but had a slight change in tone when addressing the penalty on Monday.

Both Mahomes and Reid have built a lengthy reputation of being one of the more even-keeled and well-liked quarterback-coach duos in recent memory, so this situation likely won't have a long-lasting impact on their legacies.

Having now lost two contests in a row and sitting just one game ahead of the Denver Broncos (7-6) in the AFC West, Kansas City (8-5) needs to put this matter aside and focus on their Week 15 opponents, the New England Patriots.
