Bills sign coach Sean McDermott to extension
The Buffalo Bills confirmed on Wednesday that the club has signed head coach Sean McDermott to a multiyear contract extension.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the new deal links McDermott with the organization through at least the 2025 season.
Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula gushed over McDermott in the official team statement:
"Sean's leadership on and off the field has been nothing but genuine and transparent, qualities we appreciate as owners. He is the same great person to us, the players and everyone across all our organizations. We will never forget how impressed we were during his first interview. Sean's attention to detail was apparent back then and his process driven approach has brought great stability to our organization. We are happy to extend his contract and keep him in Western New York for many years to come."
Previously a defensive coordinator, McDermott began his stint with the Bills in January 2017. He helped end Buffalo's 17-year playoff drought his first season with the club and then guided the Bills back to the postseason in 2019.
Buffalo squandered a double-digit lead over the Houston Texans before losing to Houston in the Wild Card round last January.
McDermott holds a 25-23 record as Buffalo head coach.
