The NFL Draft is supposed to be a memorable time for prospects, with one of the most notable moments being when they hear their phone ring from the team they will soon be drafted to.
However, some pranksters took advantage of the opportunity by calling prospects and spreading false information about what was going on. The most notable incident took place with new Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was called by Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich’s son Jax posing as New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis (both team and coach were heavily fined as a result of the incident). Other high-profile draft prospects, such as Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren and Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham, were also confirmed to have been prank-called during the draft.
Now, it appears as though Las Vegas Raiders Ashton Jeanty can also add his name to that list.
During an interview with FanSided, Jeanty shared that he was also prank-called during the draft, but he was quick to deduce it and hung up.
“Some dude was like, yea you just got traded from the Raiders to the Cowboys and I just hung up bro,” Jeanty said.

Jeanty was able to just laugh it off and enjoy his draft in peace, but he is just the latest case of a widespread issue that cropped up this year.
With so many prospects getting these prank calls, it is fair to wonder what the NFL or team front offices did to encrypt what should have been classified information. Instead, phone numbers were somehow leaked to the public, resulting in calls being made that were never legitimate to begin with. Expect this lack of security to be addressed sometime soon by the NFL, and the next team who fails to follow through will likely receive much heavier punishments than Ulbrich and the Falcons did.
Jeanty appears more than happy to be a Raider, and fans would have it no other way.
