Bills' Stefon Diggs sets the record straight on Josh Allen tension
After a noisy offseason cast doubt on Stefon Diggs' future in Orchard Park, the star receiver has put to rest for now any rumored tension between him, the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen.
Appearing on teammate Von Miller's "The Voncast" podcast Wednesday, Diggs was questioned about a tweet he sent April 1 in which the three-time Pro Bowler cited lyrics from a Drake song titled "Search and Rescue."
While Diggs admitted he does "poke the bear" from time to time, he downplayed the context of his tweet, claiming the fallout from the tweet was nothing more than people diving "too deep" into things.
Diggs then set the record straight on his feelings toward Allen.
“I’ll also say I’m not responsible for how people react to things, I’m not responsible for how somebody feels,” Diggs said. “I’m more so responsible in how I carry it, and I’m just happy to have my quarterback.”
Diggs' comments come just two days after an upset loss to the New York Jets on Monday night in which Allen had four turnovers, tying a career-high for a game.
Allen's 57 turnovers since Diggs' arrival in 2020 are six more than any other player in the NFL. Since entering the league in 2018, Allen has failed to win an overtime game, recording a league-high five overtime losses, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
During an Aug. 21 segment on ESPN’s "First Take," Stephen A. Smith claimed Diggs wanted out of Buffalo because he feels there's a "window of opportunity they may have missed out on."
Despite finishing first in the AFC East for three consecutive seasons, Buffalo has failed to advance beyond the divisional round of the playoffs since their AFC championship loss in 2020.
With division rival Miami owning one of most explosive offenses in football and the New York Jets expected to get QB Aaron Rodgers back in 2024, the clock may be ticking on the Bills' Super Bowl window.
If Allen fails to clean up his turnover issues and the Bills' disappointment this season, questions of Diggs' future in Buffalo will once again heat up.
