Bills reporter claims 'ownership' for comments about WR Stefon Diggs

The situation surrounding a hot mic, a reporter and Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs just got a lot messier.

A few hours after audio featuring a reporter bashing Diggs emerged, a Bills employee has taken ownership. Maddy Glab, team reporter for the Bills' official site, apologized for her comments via social media.

Earlier in the day, while engaging in a little locker room talk with her fellow scribes, unbeknownst to Glab, a nearby microphone was picking up her comments. After declaring that Diggs was uncontrollable, Glab said, "he'll look in my face and say F you — that's how he treats everybody."

In Glab's apology, she attempted to explain her comments. While waiting for players to come out for media availability, Glab alleges that another reporter jokingly asked her to call for Diggs, which garnered an equally mischievous response that sounds bad out of context.

"I said I don't have control over him — Stef marches to the beat of his own drum, and I love that about him," Glab wrote. "He has a playful relationship with our video department, so that's why I said he probably wouldn't say yes to me grabbing him for an interview."

There's no excusing what Glab said about Diggs. However, as we constantly learn in our quick-sound-byte world, taking a 30-second clip and creating a narrative without much relevant information is rather easy. And, for the moment, that appears to be what happened here.

Neither the Bills nor Diggs have commented on the situation, so for now, the only side presented is Glab's. However, her explanation makes sense, even if it's still not the best look for her or the team.
