Brett Favre knows what it’s like to be closely associated with an organization, only to leave toward the end of his career. That’s similar to what Tom Brady did in leaving the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Favre said he commends Brady for having the willingness to make such a decision. The longtime quarterback also believes Brady did not leave the Patriots due to a rift with Bill Belichick or the New England organization.

“I know Tom real well,” Favre told CBS Sports HQ, via Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports. “We talked a little bit about it but I think more than anything he just kind of wanted to try his hand at something different, and you can’t fault him for that. It has nothing to do with the organization, even though people may make it out to be a riff between he and Belichick or the organization. Look, what they did is unbelievable, and that will not change. He just wants to try his hand at something different and if it works out, great. If it doesn’t, he’s still the greatest to ever play the game.”

This is more or less what Brady has said about his departure. Favre seems to think Brady is making a worthwhile decision here, even if it’s a move that some people might not think will work out too well.
