Brock Purdy is among the favorites to win NFL MVP, but the San Francisco 49ers quarterback thinks someone else should win the award.

Purdy’s 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals 45-29 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Sunday. The second-year quarterback went 16/25 for 242 yards and 4 touchdowns. Purdy now has 3,795 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes this season for the NFC leaders, placing him at the forefront of the MVP discussion.

But Purdy told reporters after the game that he thinks Christian McCaffrey should be in the lead for the award.

“I think Christian should be MVP,” Purdy said. “I really do believe that. He does everything for us. Runs the ball well, can catch the ball. He does everything.”

Purdy also lauded McCaffrey for how hard he runs and the workload he takes on.

McCaffrey rushed 18 times for 115 yards and a touchdown against Arizona. He also had 5 catches for 72 yards and 2 TDs. McCaffrey now has 1,292 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 509 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns this season.

San Francisco has followed up its 3-game losing streak during the season with six straight wins to run their record to 11-3.
