Broncos bring back WR who hasn't played since 2021 season

Tim Patrick hasn't played in a meaningful game in over two years.
The Denver Broncos are giving the wide receiver one more shot at a return to the field, agreeing to a new one-year contract on Friday.

The Broncos have already said goodbye to nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson, meaning that he and Patrick never got a chance to form an on-field connection during Wilson's two seasons with the team.

It's also recently been reported that Denver could be cutting ties with its top two wideouts from the last two seasons — Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

Patrick was one of the Broncos' top pass-catchers during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He led the group in receiving touchdowns (six) and finished second in receiving yards (742) in 2020 before pacing Denver in touchdowns (five) and ranking second in receiving yards (734) again in 2021.

The 30-year-old Patrick suffered a torn ACL in early August 2022 though, which caused him to miss the entire season. He then went down with a torn Achilles last August.

Nobody knows who will be under center in the Mile High City this fall, but it looks like Patrick will be among the returning faces to the wide receiver room.
