Broncos' Vic Fangio: Drew Lock, Teddy Bridgewater will have equal chance to win starting job

The Denver Broncos quarterback situation is very interesting. They traded for Teddy Bridgewater, reportedly were putting together a trade package for disgruntled Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and passed on selecting a QB with the ninth-overall pick in this year's draft.

It's unclear who will be Denver's starting quarterback in 2021, and head coach Vic Fangio confirmed as much in a recent interview with Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver, saying Bridgewater and Drew Lock will have an equal opportunity to win the job.

At one point, it looked like Lock was going to be Denver's quarterback of the future. He went 4-1 in his first five starts, completing 64.1% of his passes for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

Then 2020 hit, and the young quarterback struggled mightily in his sophomore season. The 24-year-old went 4-9, completing 57.3% of his passes for 2,933 yards with 16 touchdowns against 15 interceptions in 13 games.

Bridgewater didn't have a much better 2020 campaign with the Carolina Panthers. He went 4-11, but did complete 69.1 percent of his passes for 3,733 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

If Lock has another disappointing season, the Broncos will, once again, be forced to search for a new franchise quarterback, because it's unlikely Bridgewater can be that guy.
