Browns could trade fourth-year WR before NFL deadline

The NFL trade deadline is just 11 days away (Oct. 31), which means teams around the league are beginning to inquire about potential deals. One Browns insider believes Cleveland could be a seller this year.

According to 247Sports' Brad Stainbrook, a "name to watch" is WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, a sixth-round pick by the Browns in 2020.

"The team wants to give more opportunities to younger players in the room," Stainbrook writes. "Moving Peoples-Jones for a draft pick would allow for that to happen."

Peoples-Jones has gotten better every year, increasing his reception and yardage totals from 2020-22. However, he seems to be lost in Cleveland's receiving unit this season with just six catches for 75 yards and zero touchdowns in five games.

The Browns invested heavily into the position over the past couple of years, trading a second-round pick for WR Elijah Moore and drafting wide receivers Cedric Tillman and David Bell. If the team wants to see more from those players, it makes sense to give Peoples-Jones a fresh start elsewhere.

Cleveland won't go out of its way to trade the fourth-year wide receiver but will certainly listen to offers as he is in the final year of his rookie deal.

If the team doesn't get an offer it feels is fair, it surely won't hurt to keep the 6-foot-2, 204-pound wide receiver in QB Deshaun Watson's arsenal. But if the Browns aren't thinking of extending Peoples-Jones, why not try to get some compensation for him?

Cleveland has been very active in the offseason and trade deadline with general manager Andrew Berry. It seems that may be the case once again. However this time, the team will be a seller instead of a buyer.
