Browns getting payoff after TE David Njoku's big payday
The Browns are getting their money's worth from tight end David Njoku, who signed a four-year, $56.75 million contract extension in the offseason. With 24 catches for 289 yards and a touchdown through five games, he is on pace for a career year.
In addition to the excellent start, he is building on his legacy as one of the best tight ends in Cleveland's history.
Njoku needs one more receiving touchdown to take sole possession of the second for a Browns tight end, per StatMuse.com. He is also 417 receiving yards from passing Kellen Winslow for the third-most receiving yards by a Cleveland tight end, per StatMuse.com
It will be tough to catch Ozzie Newsome, the Browns' all-time leader in tight end receiving yards (7,980) and receiving touchdowns (47), but never say never.
Per Pro Football Focus, Njoku is the sixth overall tight end and the fourth overall tight end in receiving.
Njoku aims to add to his totals when the Browns host the Patriots on Sunday.
