Browns' Kareem Hunt on Nick Chubb: 'Please pay that man'

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was on pace to compete for a rushing title last fall before he suffered an MCL sprain in early October, but he nevertheless finished the season with 1,067 rushing yards and 5.6 yards per carry.

Fellow Cleveland ball-carrier Kareem Hunt put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension last September, and he campaigned for the club to show Chubb the money while speaking with reporters at his youth football camp on Thursday.

"Please pay that man," Hunt said of Chubb, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "He's a freak of nature. He's a brother to me. I love what he does on and off the field. He's a great person and teammate."

Chubb is in the final year of his rookie contract, and the Browns would certainly love to keep him in an ideal situation. The price tag could, however, be an issue. The Browns have already locked All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett down and may be close to signing quarterback Baker Mayfield to an extension, and there's only so much salary-cap space to go around for any team.

Whether or not the Browns will view attaching a hefty amount of that space to a running back past 2021 as a worthwhile investment remains to be seen.
