Browns' Kevin Stefanski: 'I need to do a better job' of getting OBJ involved

At this point, one would have to consider the Cleveland Browns trading for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in March 2019 a complete bust. Beckham has never matched his best days while with the New York Giants in Cleveland and seems to still lack chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Plus, the 28-year-old was officially targeted only once in Sunday's home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that dropped the Browns to 4-4 on what's becoming a disappointing season for an advertised contender.

According to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski pointed a figurative finger in his direction while addressing Beckham's lack of impact on Sunday.

"I would tell you first and foremost, I need to do a better job. I really do," Stefanski said of getting Beckham more involved in game plans. "I need to make sure that I put him in position to make some plays, and I did not do a good enough job certainly yesterday."

Stefanski added he still views Beckham as a dynamic weapon, but Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson wrote over the weekend that the Browns would struggle to find a buyer for the receiver ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

"Nobody is going to want that salary unless [the Browns] are going to pay part of what’s left on it [this season]," one AFC general manager said of Beckham, who is owed over $8 million for the rest of the season. "And even if Cleveland is willing to do that, which they probably aren’t, nobody is giving up anything for him. I’ll be very surprised if they can move him for anything."

The Browns play at the 5-3 Cincinnati Bengals this coming Sunday.
