Browns reveal new dawg logo

The Browns are getting creative, with the help of their fans.

The team officially revealed its new dawg logo on Monday.

The final vote took place last week between two finalists, one internally-created and one fan-created, and it was the fan-created logo that was victorious.

The logo may look somewhat simple but Cleveland tells its fans that there's "much more than meets the eye."

The state of Ohio is in the top left corner. A guitar pick is at the center of the tag for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There are eight spikes to represent the Browns finishing as champions eight times in their history. And there is a nod to the team's the classic helmet stripe.

Cleveland announced the start of the contest in April when fans submitted their original designs to the team website.

"We are fired up to see what ideas our fans come up with and the thought of their logo potentially being selected is a key element in our commitment to creating an amazing experience for our fanbase," executive vice president J.W. Johnson said in a statement.

The "Dawg Pound" was originally a reference to the Browns' defense, but in 1999, team officials named the east end sections of the stadium the "Dawg Pound," which now has its official logo.
