Browns sign Super Bowl champion safety

The Browns were one of the most active teams in the league before the 2023 NFL Draft and they're showing no signs of slowing down.

ESPN's Jake Trotter announced Thursday that Cleveland has agreed to terms with veteran safety Rodney McLeod

He may be turning 33 in June, but he just posted a season-high 96 tackles and eight passes defensed in 2022 with the Colts.

What his role with Browns will be is still unknown as he joins safeties Grant Delpit and Juan Thornhill, who are both expected to start. However, McLeod provides veteran leadership and depth to the position at the very least.

McLeod has been a reliable player throughout his NFL career, playing in less than 13 games just once. Cleveland will be just the fourth team he has played for since entering the league in 2012.

The veteran has 688 tackles, 18 interceptions, 60 passes defensed and 12 forced fumbles in his 11-year career and won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in 2018.

The Browns are still searching for their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. The team looks ready to contend on paper, so what better way to reach that goal than by adding a player like McLeod who has already won one?
