With the final roster cutdowns looming for all 32 NFL teams, the Cleveland Browns have waived a defensive back. The team has waived cornerback Chris Westry.

Westry (6-4, 200) is officially in his second NFL season out of Kentucky. Originally signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Westry has appeared in eight career games with two starts. He saw his most extensive action with the Ravens in 2021, where he played in six games and recorded three passes defensed.

Westry, who was signed this past May, found himself near the bottom of the Browns depth chart during the preseason as he played during the fourth quarter of games. He was the teams tallest listed corner and wore number 20.

With starters planning to play around 25 snaps in the finale, many players on the 90 man roster won’t get a chance to play. With this being the first of year of having all cuts to the roster on one day, it is unknown if teams will just wait or if we will start seeing cuts trickle out over the coming week. Stay tuned to our coverage of what players will make up the 2023 Cleveland Browns.
