Browns WR Michael Woods II tears Achilles

In what has been a pretty positive offseason for the Browns, the team received some bad news on Tuesday.

Wide receiver Michael Woods II, Cleveland's 2022 sixth-round pick, suffered a torn Achilles during a workout in Houston with QB Deshaun Watson. Woods II will require surgery and will likely miss the entire 2023 NFL season.

Woods II had just five catches for 45 yards in 10 games during his rookie year but was certainly looking for a larger role in 2023. He will now have to wait until 2024 to make a comeback and cement his role on the team.

The Browns must move on without the 23-year-old for the time being. However, they have set themselves up well for a potential season-ending injury like Woods II's.

Cleveland has already added two receivers this offseason to join Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones and 2022 third-round pick David Bell in its receiver room. The team traded for Elijah Moore and then signed Marquise Goodwin to a one-year deal.

The Browns may still add another receiver in free agency or the draft, but it shouldn't be a necessity following Woods II's injury.

Woods II has since taken to Twitter to show he's ready for the challenge.
